Fieldwork So Far:
- I have met with some of relevant people researching and participating in the local hospitality industry and established a general design direction of a combined hotel + hotel staff school
- I have made contacts with relevant hospitality training institutions in order to progress my work alongside them and have future feedback
- I have established contact with local hotel and hospitality school designers in order to have local input for my work
- I have discovered that Lagos Mainland is very relevant in terms of urban study, however none of the areas I have seen constitute a suitable condition for the project. I am now considering sites on Lekki Peninsula
Next step: Finding a site in Lekki:
- I will be meeting with developers and local authorities in order to discover any up-to-date masterplan materials for the area, and to understand the ownership patterns and the stage of development of Lekki
- The information from the above point will be reviewed in dialogue with the general contemporary discourse on the New African Urbanism
- Having put together a basic programmatic requirement for the project I will be looking for a specific site in Lekki
