First year architecture students at Bath Spa have been given a new brief to design a pavilion for a craftsperson. The crafts of the fictional clients include printmaking, willow weaving, carpentry, screen printing and ceramics.

Some models provocatively responded to the artificiality of grass on their respective sites. Others creatively addressed the old wall around the site.. or the overwhelming smells and vegetation at the existing greenhouse that’s currently on site.
One scheme conceptualised a pavilion for cave dwellers living on site 1,500 years ago. Another model represented the qualities for a pavilion for watching Middlemarch, a BBC drama series from the 1990s.
