Art workshop at Bradfield College

Similarly to last year I worked with Lower Sixth Form fine art pupils in a workshop dedicated to conceptualising non-physical ideas through models. Process driven, the exercise encouraged the participants to think through making, work intuitively and avoid excessive planning.

The explored themes included:

  • Experience of skiing
  • Dancing with a dog
  • Contrast between a chaotic football practice and a proper game
  • Conversation with a parent whilst taking a walk
  • An introverted person’s garden
  • A dining table with a group of environmental justice protesters
  • System of mini cottages at a resort
  • Conversations with teddy bears on a lawn
  • Playing rounders

At the end of the workshop, the students assembled the maquettes and shared their learnings.
