Yesterday I took part in the reviews of the final year briefs for the master students at the London School of Architecture. I was invited as an external critic for the Design Direction Module with projects focusing on issues around waste and recycling. The students presented their briefs and ambitions for their final year projects to be commenced in September 2021. The projects focused on the following issues:
- wasted space and materials in derelict offices, self-storage centres and reclamation yards
- temporary architecture made from reclaimed materials
- vertical urban farming
- communal cooking and food waste prevention
- centres for theatrical sorting construction waste
