
In late 2021 Emilia’s team celebrated the opening of the 3rd restaurant. At over 200 sq metres, this was the largest of Emilia’s sites, with design needing to comply with Canary Wharf’s strict requirements (the whole area is privately managed.
As with other restaurants, I was involved in all stages of design, working directly with the restaurant’s founder, writing the brief and assisting in hiring the other designers and engineers for the job. In terms of drawings, I took a leading role on some of the bespoke complex features, such as the pasta cabinet corner (pictured)

Another significant challenge was in designing the hanging shelving above the kitchen counter (pictured below). Given the convoluted arrangement of existing ceiling cervices, the shelf was pre-made in an adjustable way, with vertical support positions being determined on site post-delivery.
