Arndale Shopping Centre, Eastbourne

During my time at TP Bennett I worked on Arndale both during my Part 1 (2015-16) and Part 2 (2018-19) work placements. West Facade is the part of the project I was most closely involved with during the construction stages. Throughout the West Facade works I liaised closely with the contractor (Kier), attended site every month and undertook snagging.

My other responsibilities included delivering construction drawings and working with marine climate around seagull nesting periods.

West Facade is a refurbished part of the shopping centre, sandwiched between its main existing part and the new extension, marked as demolition area on this map
Resolution of various important details in the West Entrance was achieved through quick sketches, rather than formal drawings. In drawing these (some of my examples above), I was learning to balance between efficiency and ensuring critical elements are captured.
One of the most rewarding aspects was to see how the visuals and drawings gradually turn into the real thing
