This morning I was at the border of the greater Accra region. Two years ago the Ghanian president started the tradition of running or walking up a 3 km hill and having some form of elevation at the top, usually involving some palm wine. This takes place early in the morning each Saturday.
Interestingly, the route goes past the president’s weekend palace and many of the participants were wearing t-shirts with political content. To my understanding this ritual adds some political symbolism to this hill.
