Elmina Slave Castle

Roughly 500 years old, the castle was established by the Portuguese, initially for the purposes of slave trade. It was later used by the Dutch and then by the British, right until the country’s Independence in 1957. In those later years of British rule, the castle was used as a police training camp. Below I mention a few details mentioned on the castle tour.
