Today I continued my work with the traditional families established in the older part of Lekki. One of the chiefs, prince Ajupon showed me a potential site, 80 x 200m (16,000 sqm) shown on the maps below:
Marked in yellow below:
The site is currently some distance away from Ajah and the main current activities of the Express, however it is alongside some major proposed infrastructure leading to the Lekki Peninsula Scheme II currently under construction. Being a very large government-developed estate, Scheme II may follow Lekki Scheme I in becoming partly office/commercial. The suggested site is also relatively close to one of the proposed major mixed use corridors of the new masterplan (first map above), a route leading to the fourth Mainland Bridge.
Following the site visit I met Oba Odeogun Ogunbona’s son, a member of the royal family in charge of the area. Chief provided me with all available site documentation, history of their family’s settlement in the area and the formal procedure for the land acquisition, details required for the implementation essay in case I chose Oba Odeogun’s site.
