Women’s board manages Wavecrest hospitality college, Ijebu Ode Conference training centre and some schools in other disciplines across five states in Nigeria helping women who wish for a hospitality career but often cannot afford learning for it.
I talked to Edna about the NGO’s objectives and progress over the last 45 years and their approach to the different facilities.
I noted the Women’s Board’s gradual approach whereby they first test a project in an area by sending a volunteer or a graduate to run some courses. Once such initiative proves fruitful, the NGO develops it into a training centre, whilst raising money from different investors, interestingly not many hotels amongst these.
Edna and I have agreed for me to meet their facilities’ architects and builders and to be taken to the Ijebu Ode Conference training centre in Ogun State, Nigeria.
