A TV and radio performer Mrs Ireti Bakare invited me to participate in the shooting of a Steet theatre play dedicated to Empowering Women. The show was to take place as Part of the Lagos State’s 50th anniversary across three locations, on Lagos Island, in Bariga and in Yaba. The event was relevant to my project in two ways:- street study: I had a chance to observe how street life participants react and engage to a unexpected unusual event involving filming and large crowds of directing crew, including foreigners
– Foreign Work Travellers: the crew was from Amsterdam and I had a chance to ask and observe where they stay, how and with who they travel to the filming location and how they interact with the street environment
Curiously, the crew did not permit me to stay in the crowd. I had to mover around and always stay behind the camera man in order not to be present in the documentary. I was told, as a white man I would look like one of the crew.
