Interview with Head of Security, Eko Hotel

Having checked my ID the head of security told me about the profiling process happening at the gates, stopping people looking ‘dubiously’ for example dressed in anything resembling the Boko Haram attire. In terms of letting people into the hotels based on one’s look and car brand, such control typically takes place at the particular hotel building already on the territory, rather than at the main gate. The day before I visited four different buildings of the Eko, all of which have different star ratings.
The chief of security also suggested contacting hotels with different cultures, such as the Lekki-based oriental, because these are likely to have different visitor scanning mechanisms.
A member of Nigerian police was present in the room, demonstrating their close collaboration with the Hotel security.
