Due to frequent power cuts everyone who can afford an electric generator, has one. Here are some figures and images from my tour of the Eko Hotel ‘Power house’.
During a power cut hotel’s power demand of 7MW is met by 8 16 cylinder engines with a total capacity of 10MW. For comparison, According to Energy.gov.ng, the total country-wide state power generation was 4038 MW.

Each V- 16 engine can produce 1350 kW and uses 1500 litres of diesel per hour, the engines and their transformers occupy a room of 400 Sqm.

The engines are fed from four 84,000 litre underground diesel tanks, constantly resupplied by NNPC trucks, most likely traveling from Mossimi.
